THE BURIAL OF SARDINE

 

In Murcia, the catafalco and the sardina figure are usually designed each year by invited artists, sculptors, or designers, chosen by the Agrupación Sardinera de Murcia, the group that organizes the festival.

For example, in 2026, the catafalco was designed by the artists Francisca Muñoz and Manuel Herrera, known together as Muher.

So, in simple words: every year a different artist or creative team usually designs it.
